The owner and head chef of Tarim Uyghur Handmade Noodles, Sultan Hiwilla, hails from the heart of the ancient Silk Road, situated in the centre of central Asia. Once the homeland of the indigenous Turkic Uyghur population, this land promises an unique flavour of food that is like no other. Uyghur Food is a living testimony to the dynamic mixing of many different cultures along the Silk Road, where flavours such as Turkic, MiddleEast, and Asian co-exist, much like the people who represent these traditions.
The story of Sultan Hiwilla goes back to as early as 2008. Merely, three years after he arrived in Sydney, Australia, he was able to open his first restaurant in Auburn, a suburb that represents Australia's multi-culturalism. This was followed by another restaurant in the heart of Sydney, Ultimo. Although these initial attempts of opening restaurants were not successful, they laid the foundation for the establishment of the name, Tarim Uyghur, again in the multicultural suburb of Auburn. For 7 years now, Tarim Uyghur has been serving Handmade dishes with freshest ingredients to Sydney foodies.
